Frequently Asked Questions

Some of your most asked questions answered

London Action Line is the HUB where Londoners can make requests of London Boroughs or send reports of something.
It is a “Central Clearing House” in that all reports and requests received are automatically forwarded to the person actually responsible for handling that type of issue, even though the initiator of the request knows nothing of the person, department or even which Borough to send it to.
You should not use London Action Line to make emergency calls
In the UK dial 999 for all emergency calls
  • Ease of use
  • Speed and efficiency
  • Build legal, historical records of the issues and the outcomes
  • Automatically deliver to the correct department / person
  • Peace of mind - knowing that your report has been acknowledged

  • Help London boroughs cut costs of administration - saving your money
  • Unify London under one reporting process
  • Some local authorities have an excellent phone answering service, you may be able to deliver your message.
  • Does it get seen by the right person? Maybe.
  • Are you able to send images and videos? Not likely.
  • Will they call you back every step of the way whilst actioning your request? Very unlikely!
  • Do you know the number to call? The right person to speak to?
  • Will you never get passed from pillar to post?
London Action Line is powered by Public Service Request Inc an Anglo-Canadian extensive set of tried and tested tools built for the job
PSR stands for Public Service Request, it is the cloud based tool set that powers London Action Line.
As far as delivering your request or report, not a lot. You can request just about anything from you local authority (or another service provider such as a utility company) and you can report just about anything you want to. Just remember though, please do not use London Action Line for emergency calls. Dial 999 for all emergency services.
Public Service Request has mechanisms for knowing who to send a report or request to based on the service type and the location.
As long as you use your email address after sending a request (the report tool will ask you) you will receive a notification every time the status of your report changes or something relevant needs to be seen by you (e.g. if a service provider adds a document or asks you a question)
Yes, if your device supports that function in the browser
You can use the search tool by starting to enter a search term. If service types are found they will then be displayed in green at the top of the list. In many instances you can search for related terms or alternative names for something e.g. looking to report dog faeces? Try searching for "poop"
When using the Google map interface, if you drag the map (and consequently the purple pointer off the screen two buttons appear at the top of the interface if you tap on "Bring Marker Here" the purple pointer will be repositioned in the center of the current map. If you tap the other button “Go back to Marker” the map will slide until the purple pointer displays in it’s original position.
Google map tries to find the nearest registered address to the purple pointer, so if you zoom in on the map and drag the purple pointer to the exact location of the issue, the address will be the closest Google maps can find. You can also enter an exact address to place the purple pointer at that address.
You can add images, videos, and other files such as .docx or .pdf but you will not be able to upload executable files such as .exe and .zip
Yes you can! If your device is producing a video format that is not supported please send a report of type PSR>Other Issue and the PSR team will enable that format for you.
Yes you can. But only BEFORE you submit the request. Tap on the file in the list of objects added and a small red x will appear, tap on that red x and your file will be removed.
Yes you can. You will be able to add comments and objects (images, videos, files etc.) when viewing the SR (Service Request) detail view.
We currently have mobile apps for Android and Apple phones.
Simple. Add your email address at the end of placing a request or making a report, PSR never allows the recipient (the Service Provider) to see your identity unless you explicitly use it in a form that some service types may require. Anonymity is the name of our game! But because PSR has your email address, you will receive updates regarding the progress of your request or report.
You will receive email notifications regarding updates concerning your request or report, but that is a good thing as you will likely want to know that something is being done with it. Those emails will be sent from no-reply@publicservicerequest.com
No, not unless it is an entity that has power under the Data Protection Act 1998 and they demand to see something via a court order - see our privacy statement for further details
